As the situation continues to evolve with the COVID-19, we know that while many are self-quarantining at home, there are also many companies that need to remain open, especially essential industries. As a janitorial and mold removal company, we are included on the list of essential industries and we have a team of cleaners willing to provide that service where it is necessary.
As we care about our clients and want to keep them safe, we are handling our cleaning duties per the proper protocols as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This includes such things as gloves, face masks, and hospital-grade disinfectants, sprays and wipes.
With those protections in place, we will continue to clean for our clients with whatever cleaning schedule best meets their needs in these uncertain times. Our mold remediation work also continues as the presence of mold in those with weakened immune systems, can deeply impact their health and should be handled as quickly as possible.
We continue to receive calls daily from clients asking what we are doing to help prevent the spread of infections in the workplace, or asking us to use specific products to disinfect all doorknobs, handrails, doors, countertops, etc.
Our policy for the duration of the Coronavirus threat is based on recommendations from the CDC. As such, our cleaning crews have been notified to:
“DISINFECT ANY CLIENT’S DOORKNOBS, HANDRAILS, COUNTERTOPS, DOORS, DOOR HANDLES, ETC. EACH VISIT.”
And to be in accordance with the CDC that states: “Ensure that cleaning and disinfection procedures are followed consistently and correctly.
“Standard cleaning and disinfection procedures, using cleaners and water to pre-clean surfaces prior to applying an EPA-registered disinfectant to frequently touched surfaces or objects for appropriate contact times as indicated on the product’s label.” – CDC, updated March 7, 2020. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/summary.html
Building Cleaning Services has printed out the list of EPA-registered disinfectants and provided these to our cleaning crews so that they use the proper recommended disinfectant wipes and aerosols. This list was issued on March 3, 2020 by the EPA as “EPA’s Registered Antimicrobial Products for Use Against the Novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19.”

The EPA-registered site covers disinfectant wipes and sprays and it is recommended that companies also keep these on hand for employees to use.
If you have any further questions, or need any additional cleaning in response to the virus threat, please do not hesitate to call me at 818-953-7100, or email me at alan@buildingcleaningservices.net.
